What is IBD (INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE) !
It's a most common gastric trouble nowadays in so called HIGH CIVILISED LIFESTYLE.
It's a chronic inflammation of gastric tract (mouth to anus).
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis both are chronic inflammatory bowel diseases.
Usually both have too much similarities and sometimes it's impossible to differentiate them.
Ulcerative colitis involves colon (intestine) while Crohn's disease can involve any part of gastrointestinal tract
from mouth to anus.
Both diseases are having relapsing nature. Sometimes ok and sometimes not.
In India mostly 12 lacs people are affected by IBD annually.
Mostly people are unaware about the symptoms and seriousness of this disease.
Many people lived symptomless throughout their life
(only have some gastric troubles which they consider normal discomfort).
Normally inflammation is good for body because it protects the body from harmful germs,
damaged cells or irritants. But in IBD immune system is not working properly and leads inflammation,
Inflammation affects the GI organ and affected organ can't work in proper rhythm.
What is DIGESTION?
BREAKING OF FOOD SUBSTANCES
ABSORPTION OF NUTRIENTS AND WATER
LAST IS ELIMINATION OF WASTE MATERIAL
How IBD disturbs digestion?
In IBD this whole cycle gets disturbed.
Inflammation in small intestine with Crohn's disease can interfere with the digestion and absorption of nutrients.
Undigested food pass through colon may cause diarrhoea and abdominal pain.
Person with ulcerative colitis has normal small colon function but inflamed colon
can't absorb water properly which results into diarrhoea, increase urgency for bowel movements
and increase frequency of bowel movements.
Symptoms of IBD
During disease affected patients have
Diarrhoea
Abdominal pain
Constipation
Urgency to have bowel movement
Blood in stool
Weight loss
Fatigue
Nausea
Vomiting
Can negatively impact nutrition
How these symptoms affect:
Severe diarrhoea can cause dehydration, electrolyte imbalance.
Patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis always have
less appetite due to nausea, altered taste sense, abdominal pain.
This affects the sufficient intake of calories and obtain sufficient nutrients.
Apart from this patients are mostly malnourished because they have frequent urging to have bowel
movements in day time which make them shy so they always have limited food intake to avoid symptoms.
Rectal bleeding due to chronic scars in intestinal lining. Prolonged bleeding leads anaemia and that cause fatigue.
Weight loss is common due to diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain. Even though they are having
food but weight loss on progress which leads fatigue feeling, irritated mood etc.

Note that which foods are disagree, try to avoid that.
Do yoga (There are asanas for IBD)
Don't stress mind as because of stress inflammatory cells start working fast and it leads inflammation in your digestive tract.
Don't fill your tummy pocket with packets of food. (It’s not fresh food, having preservatives, refined carbohydrates,
and more important it's not made with good heart and hygiene)
